Guild Wars drove me to want to play offline games for some time. The graphics are great, but the people, frankly, ruin the atmosphere. I have to quote someone below for the observation that (in the first chapter): "everyone is a pervert, a rascist, and idiot, or any combination of the three" At least in Eve, you’re stuck with people playing the game, and don’t constantly get spammed teenie bopper nonsense. In GW, the centre of every town seems to be a pit of people dancing and shouting LOL LIKE REALLY SHUT UP NICE! Which the world bubbles make impossible to ignore. Added to which, if you want to get anywhere interesting, you can’t go it alone. The economy is stupid (yay, dye). I’d like to see another game do this genre better. WOW certainly doesn’t. GW is a step in the right direction but not halfway there. |

The gameplay is very linear, you pretty much end up doing the same thing over and over again, and there is little replayability. You can only have 8 skills equipped at one time: / personally, I know a lot of people love the whole "instance thing" but I hate having to group up in a town, and then set out, to have people not make it through the loading, end up leaving half way through the mission, etc. overall I didn't care much for the game, but at least I can go back to it whenever I want. Oh. Wow. I’ve never laughed more at a comment. Gamergal, most of what you said has been corrected, but still it has to be said. Pvp - You start off in -RANDOM- Arenas. Once you win there a few times, you unlock -TEAM- Arenas. In Team Arenas you can choose your group carefully from the players who have also unlocked it. |

Gamergal has a highly inaccurate view of this game and its features. I've played for a year and a half now, and have no idea what she is talking about. Yes, you have to buy the game. So? This isn't a cash-shop grindfest. You have to pay programmers and staff to run a quality game somehow, and I would rather pay an up front flat fee than for either a monthly or cash-shop model. I have very rarely had any problem finding people to quest with. GW is unique, especially with the additions of Nightfall and Eye of the North, in that you have had a large number of customizable heroes, as well as non-customizable henchmen that can accompany you. You can quite literally beat the game in normal mode (and nearly all of hard mode) without ever really having to group with another human. This gives you some flexibility and freedom from having to sit around looking for a party when you want to play. |

The community is not "Awful! Unfriendly, unhelpful, rude..." etc. There are people that can be, like in any game, but to generalize like that is nonsense. Most people chat more within their guild and alliance than in the public chat, simply because those are the people that they will most readily be questing with, pvping, trusting not to be scammed by, etc. You do have to make SOME effort to establish human relationships. It is GUILD Wars. This game scores a perfect 10 in my book. The game play is fun and you are never doing the same thing two times in a row. Different types of monsters make you use different skills. Build up a guild, get an alliance going and just dominate in the player vs player (PvP) aspect of the game. And to top it all off, there is no monthly fee. If you played WoW and tired of paying monthly, check this game out. |

This person obviously has very little experience in pvp. There are numerous arenas and styles of pvp, not just the Random Arena 4v4. The Random Arena is not considered serious pvp. It is something there to get a quick pvp fix, because generally there is no wait time, and you don't have to bother finding a group, as they are put together automatically. Team Arenas is an organized 4v4 match, where each team sets up before the match, and then faces off against others in a mini-ladder contest. Guild vs. Guild combat sets 8 people in one guild against 8 people in another guild, where one group storms the other one's guild hall and tries to kill their guild lord and the other team. It is great fighting with your friends and closer guildmates. |

Now we come to the dirty, low-down part of the review. The system for PvP is very innovative, with separate characters, customizable weapons and armour, etc. But the system is also the most noob-unfriendly thing I’ve ever seen. Every single time I enter the PvP, I get owned by a bunch of elites that kill my party every 5 seconds. Terrible PvP." almost flawless with over 1k skills and u can make any combo with 8 skill including 1 skill elite in the 8 skills makes ur build very interesting. Ur build are more or less balance for example if u are playing protection and self heal tank u can’t do dmg much. if u go aggressive u wont be able to heal urself. HOH is perfect to have 3 grp fighting each other. |

The exportable world is huge, considering you can’t climb, swim, jump, or otherwise move on the vertical axis. Grinding is moderate to minimal, as you’ll be kept busy with the delicious buffet of quests. As to keep you from grinding on the same weak level 0 monster all the time, you'll only gain exp from monsters 5 levels below you or stronger. Once you reach the low-low cap of level 20 though, it all changes. I gained levels 1-15 pretty fluidly, and got my way to level 20 by repeatedly doing a very fun mission, all in a little more than a week. Oops. HUGE mistake doing that even before you made it through half the story. |
